Short answer: Anime lash extensions combine a soft, fluffy base with longer, defined spikes placed at strategic points along your lash line. The spikes pull the eye open and make it look bigger and rounder, for a wide-awake, doll-like effect inspired by anime heroines and K-beauty. At our Thousand Oaks studio an Anime full set is $130, takes about 2.5 hours, and fills start at $45. It is one of the most fun sets I make, and also one of the most technical.
How the Anime effect works
An Anime set has two layers. The first is the base: shorter, softer fans that fill in your lash line and give it depth. The second is the spikes: longer extensions closed into thin, defined points that stand out above the base, a bit like the drawn lashes of an anime character. Those spikes are what everyone notices.
The magic is not the spikes themselves, it is where they go. Before I start, I map your eye: I decide how many spikes you need, how far apart they sit, how long each one should be, and where along the lash line the longest ones go. Spikes concentrated toward the center make the eye look rounder and more open; spikes spread toward the outer corner lift and elongate it. Two clients can both book an Anime set and walk out with very different results, because each map is built for one specific eye.
Who the Anime effect is for
- You love K-beauty, anime or cosplay aesthetics, or you simply want your eyes to look bigger and more awake.
- You want a set with personality, the kind people comment on.
- You like a textured, spiky look more than a smooth, uniform one.
- You take a lot of photos: spikes give your lashes shape and definition on camera.
Who should think twice
If you want a soft, blended set that looks like naturally full lashes, Anime spikes will feel like too much; a Volume or Natural Classic set is closer to what you are picturing. If your natural lashes are short or fine, very long spikes would be too heavy for them, so I will shorten the spikes or space them differently: you still get the effect, scaled to what your lashes can carry. And because this style is built on a few defined points, each one matters. When a spike sheds, you notice the gap more than you would in a fluffy set, so Anime looks its best when you keep your fills on schedule.
If what you really like is the glossy, spiky texture without the doll-eye shape, you may be thinking of the Wet effect: defined spikes all along the lash line with a "just out of the shower" finish, for $120.
Your Anime appointment, step by step
- Consultation (10-15 minutes). Show me your inspiration photos. We look at your eye shape, your lids and your natural lashes, and decide how dramatic the spikes will be. You know the price before we start.
- Mapping and prep. I cleanse your lashes, place gel pads under your eyes and mark the map on the pads so every spike lands exactly where it should.
- Application (about 2 hours). I build the soft base first, then place each spike on its own isolated natural lash, checking the symmetry between both eyes as I go. Your eyes stay closed and relaxed the whole time.
- Reveal. I brush and shape the spikes, you open your eyes, and we go over aftercare.

Price and time
| Service | Price | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Anime full set | $130 | 2h 30min |
| Anime fill at 1 week | $45 | 1h |
| Anime fill at 2 weeks | $90 | 1h 30min |
| Anime fill at 3 weeks | $110 | 2h |
Fill prices go by the number of weeks since your last appointment. In a spiky set, coming in at 2 weeks keeps the shape crisp and costs less than waiting.
Aftercare: keeping the spikes sharp
- Keep them dry for the first 24-48 hours while the adhesive cures.
- Cleanse every 2-3 days with an oil-free lash cleanser. Oil and makeup make spikes stick to the base and lose their shape.
- Brush gently in the direction your lashes grow; the spikes will fall back into place on their own.
- Do not rub your eyes or sleep face-down: crushed spikes bend and cross over each other.
- Book your Anime fill every 2-3 weeks so we can rebuild the spikes and clusters. Coming from another studio? We remove those extensions (removal $15) and apply a new set.
Worried about long spikes and your natural lashes? With the right length and full isolation they should not be a problem; here is the honest explanation. And if a few lashes come out each day, this is what normal shedding looks like.

FAQ
What are anime lash extensions?
Anime extensions combine a soft base with longer, defined spikes placed at strategic points along the lash line. The spikes open the eye for a wide-awake, doll-like look inspired by anime and K-beauty. At Eybonee Spa in Thousand Oaks an Anime full set is $130 and takes about 2.5 hours.
Do anime lashes work on hooded or small eyes?
Usually, yes, because the map is designed for your eye. We adjust where the spikes go and how long they are so they show when your eyes are open. At the consultation we tell you honestly how dramatic the effect will look on your eye shape.
What is the difference between anime and wet lashes?
Anime places longer spikes at specific points over a soft base to make the eye look bigger and rounder, a bold statement for $130. Wet uses closed fans all along the lash line for a glossy, separated, just-out-of-the-shower finish, for $120.
How often do anime lashes need a fill?
Every 2-3 weeks. Because the style is built on defined spikes, a missing one shows sooner than in a fluffy set. An Anime fill is $45 at 1 week, $90 at 2 weeks and $110 at 3 weeks.
Can I bring a photo of the anime lashes I want?
Please do. We use it as a starting point and adapt spike placement and length to your eye shape and to what your natural lashes can safely carry, so the result suits you rather than copying someone else.
