Short answer: a Hybrid set mixes classic extensions (one per natural lash) with light handmade volume fans, roughly 50/50. The result is fuller and more textured than Classic, but softer and more natural than full Volume. At our Thousand Oaks studio a Hybrid full set is $130, takes about 2.5 hours, and fills start at $45. It is the most requested style in the studio, and once you see it, it is easy to understand why.
What a Hybrid set is
A Hybrid combines the two main lash techniques in one set. On some natural lashes I place a single classic extension, which gives length and definition. On others I place a small fan of ultra-fine extensions, made by hand, which adds fullness and softness. Mixing them creates a lash line with texture: some lashes stand out, others fill the space in between, and the overall effect looks full without looking flat or heavy.
The balance can be adjusted. If you want it closer to Classic, we use more single lashes; if you want more drama, we lean toward fans. That flexibility is a big part of why Hybrid works for so many different eyes and routines.
Who Hybrid is for
- You are in between. Classic feels too subtle, but full Volume feels like too much. Hybrid is that middle ground.
- Your natural lashes have small gaps. The fans fill the sparse areas while the classics keep it natural.
- You like texture. A slightly wispy, dimensional lash line rather than a perfectly uniform one.
- You want one set for every occasion. Soft enough for the office or carpool, full enough for a dinner out or event photos.
- You are moving up from Classic. Many clients start with a Classic set and switch to Hybrid once they want a bit more.
Who it is not for (honestly)
If you want the most natural look possible, the kind nobody notices, a Natural Classic set is a better fit. If you want a dense, dark, perfectly full lash line, Hybrid will feel a little light, and Volume or Mega Volume will make you happier. And if you know you will not come back for fills every few weeks, consider a Korean Lash Lift instead: it uses only your own lashes and needs no maintenance (see our lift vs. extensions comparison). Telling you this up front is how we make sure you leave with a set you love.
What the appointment is like, step by step
- Consultation (10-15 minutes). We look at your eye shape and your natural lashes, and decide together how much texture and fullness you want, plus length and curl. You know the price before anything starts.
- Prep. Lashes are cleansed so the adhesive bonds properly, and soft gel pads cover your lower lashes.
- Application (about 2 hours). I work lash by lash, placing either a single classic extension or a handmade fan on each isolated natural lash, following the map we designed. Your eyes stay closed and relaxed; there is no pulling and nothing stings.
- Reveal and aftercare. We brush the set out, you see the result in the mirror, and we go over aftercare so you know exactly how to keep it.

Aftercare and when to come back
- No water, steam or sweat for the first 24-48 hours, while the adhesive cures.
- Oil-free products only around your eyes, including makeup remover and sunscreen.
- Wash your lashes every 2-3 days with a lash-safe cleanser so the fans stay soft and separated.
- Brush them each morning with a clean spoolie.
- Avoid sleeping face-down and rubbing your eyes.
- Book your Hybrid fill every 2-3 weeks to restore both the classic base and the volume fans. Losing a few extensions a day is part of your natural lash cycle; here is how to tell normal shedding from a problem.
Why the Hybrid is worth doing right
A good Hybrid is all about balance. If the fans are too big or placed randomly, the set looks patchy; if they are too heavy, they stress your natural lashes. Each fan is made by hand and every extension goes on one isolated lash, never glued to its neighbors. That care is what keeps your natural lashes healthy set after set; read do lash extensions damage your natural lashes? for the full explanation.

FAQ
What are hybrid lash extensions?
A hybrid set mixes classic extensions (one per natural lash) with light handmade volume fans, about 50/50. It looks fuller and more textured than Classic, but softer than full Volume. At Eybonee Spa in Thousand Oaks a Hybrid full set is $130 and takes about 2.5 hours.
What is the difference between hybrid and classic lashes?
Classic places one extension on each natural lash, so it adds length and definition but no extra density. Hybrid adds handmade fans on part of the lashes, which fills gaps and adds texture. Choose Classic for the most natural look and Hybrid for more fullness.
Are hybrid lashes good for sparse lashes?
Often, yes. The volume fans cover more space than single extensions, so they help fill small gaps while the classic lashes keep the look natural. We assess your natural lashes at the consultation to choose a safe weight.
How often do hybrid lashes need a fill?
Every 2-3 weeks. Hybrid fills are $45 at 1 week, $90 at 2 weeks and $110 at 3 weeks, so coming in sooner costs less.
Can I get a hybrid fill if my set was done at another salon?
No. Fills are only for sets done at Eybonee Spa. If your set was done at another salon, we remove it (removal $15) and apply a new Hybrid full set.
